Music Monday – “Anniversary”

For today’s Music Monday I wanted to share something a little different than usual. This video comes from DC Entertainment and is titled “Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short.” It premiered in 2013 as part of the celebrations honoring the character. It was directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and animated by the legendary Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series).

The short video highlights Superman’s incredible history from comics, cartoons, and even live action movies while the wonderful scores of John Williams (Superman: The Movie) and Hans Zimmer (Man of Steel) provide the tasteful soundtrack. Anyone who is a fan of Superman or just comic books in general should check this out. In fact, you should watch it more than once since there are so many references to observe.

My favorite parts would have to be seeing the cover of “Action Comics #1” coming to life, the animated version of Christopher Reeve’s Superman smiling as he flies by, and the water tower from the TV show “Smallville”. Whenever I watch this video I get goosebumps. Which parts are your favorite?

Here’s to another 75 years of old Supes!

P.S. If you want a “play-by-play” of each scene describing what you are seeing, you should check out this link from the DC Comics blog.
